I had the pleasure of presenting my session on SQL Server Extended Events in SQL Friday. I explained what Extended Events is, how it looks like in terms of the metadata, and how it compares with SQL Trace and Profiler.
I also demonstrated many features of this platform, such as using the histogram target and using multiple events with different fields and filters. I spent most of the time demonstrating several common use cases, such as monitoring batch executions (e.g. long-running queries) and investigating waits of a specific request.
I promised to make all the session materials (deck + scripts) available, so here it is: click here to download.
